→ニセモノの笑顔として
・Their smiles are fake./ They give a fake smile. / They fake a smile.

強制的に笑顔を作るので
・They force a smile.

自然な感情の発露としての笑顔ではなく、笑顔の裏に何らかの意図を感じるから、『みんなつくり笑顔だ』という発言になるのであろう。営利追求が至上目的である企業の、笑顔の向こうには、やはり販売促進という大目的がある。よって、
・They smile to sell more.
・They smile so we(customers) buy things here.
・ They smile to make us buy more.

put on a shirt でシャツを着る。
put on a smileで、笑顔を着る＝つくり笑顔をする。

本当には微笑んでいないので、
・They smile, but they are not really smilng.
